Ernst6-thumb by lorddurionVampires are undead creatures who rise from the graves when the sun sets, they lurk during the dark of the night to hunt and feed on the blood of living people to sustain their immortality. The vampire drains the poor soul dry until the victim falls lifeless and colourless on the ground, on the night after that victim is buried, they rise a vampire themselves.
According to some myth they originate in Romania, Greece, Bohemia, Poland, Albania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Hungary, Moravia and Silesia.

In European folklore they ruddy or dark skin, and that they were bloated corpses mistaken for vampires, but it is unknown whether they have no shadow or no reflection. They can be killed by a stake to the heart, they are nocturnal but unconfirmed whether sunlight is fatal to them, you can also cut of their heads, they can even drown but they come back once removed from the water. Of course fire can kill them, some of them are vulnerable to silver, garlic, holy objects but they don't need an invitation, even running water but can resurrect once removed as well, they cant resist counting things too. Even some have weaknesses to various herbs, plants and woods: oak, ash and Wolfsbane and many more. They might be immortal, they do have super strength and enhanced senses, speed, regeneration, some can fly and shape shift and have psychic powers, they even have the power of a poltergeist. Some have the ability to have dominion over nocturnal animals or the power to spread plagues.
I read that they can conceive off springs. They have to feed on the victim until the death to become a vampire, some victims would need to drink a vampires blood to change after an attack. And that they originate from demons.

In North American folklore they do have shadow but no reflection and their skin is pale. They cannot be killed by drowning, or running water, they are weak to silver, and they do need an invitation. Some of them can fly, they can transform themselves into nocturnal animals and mist.

Bela lugosi dracula by lorddurionDracula has no reflection and no shadow, he turned to dust when he died and recently sired vampires just turn back into human corpses. The female vampires have red skin whilst Dracula has pale, his brides along with Lucy are beautiful and alluring like sirens. In Stoker's universe, a white oak stake is ideal to kill a vampire, Dracula's are only weakened during the day but becomes stronger at midday.
He cannot die by drowning, or silver he is not a counting addict, but his psychic powers can be used to an advantage to hunt him down. He shape shift into a bat (even a giant bat) dust, mist, perhaps a dog as well, he transformed into a coachman, Jonathan Harker. He had a telepathic link to Mina after he had fed her his own blood. He might have telekinesis or can manipulate fire. He has the power over nocturnal animals. There might be witches and werewolves in Dracula's homeland, his minions are his brides and his gypsies.
(By the way, I got all that research from Wikipedia)

Vampires in any folklore, book or film even a television show comes in many forms but most of them are all similar.
Here are some unique types of vampires I read and researched.

Rakshasa: Demons from Hindu mythology, they feed on pregnant women and babies.

Chiang-shih: From China, they are blind but have super hearing and they are vulnerable to feng shui, salt, rice and bells.

Baobhan Sith: An inspiration for a story I keep on planning, they come from the highlands of Scotland, they are female fairies that do feed on blood actually. They seduce traveling men into a remote area, they dance until the victim is exhausted and she attacks! They can change their nails into talons, shape shift into wolves, they can hypnotize their victims and have the power of telepathy. They have a weakness for Iron.

Draug: These come from Norse mythology, they rise from their tombs and feed on the blood of humans and drive animals almost insane with fear. To kill them you have to cut off their heads, burn them and scatter their ashes into the sea.

Chupacabra: Resided in Latin America, usually Maine. They have green or grey flesh, fangs, spikes, red eyes and they hop like a kangaroo. With their eyes, they can make a victim nauseous. From cameras and recording devices, I say they are vulnerable to bright lights.

Lamastsu: A goddess and the daughter of the sky god Anu, drains the blood of babies, pregnant women and young men. She comes from Ancient Mesopotamia, says to have wings. She has the power to control light and her weakness are the charms by Pazuzu, the only god to defeat her in battle.

Ker: The Dogs of Hades, they the underworld with death and they feed on blood, known from ancient Greece. Winged and their robes are blood stained, claws and fangs and they can only be bested momentarily, they can be warded off by purification rites.

Tlahuelpuchi: If a family member, cursed with a Tlahuelpuchi, kills or states that they are vampires, the curse passes on to them. They are from Mexico, some of them are female and they can take the form of a vulture. Weaknesses are metal, garlic and onions.

Rabisu: They are Hell's welcoming committee, they attack newly arrived souls. Salt is their weakness.

Yara-ma-yha-who: Tiny creatures with red skin and blood sucking tentacles, they have magic vomit but slow and dumb, they come from Australia.

Manananggal: Names a big mouthful, she too feasts on the blood of pregnant women, she comes from the Philippines. They are beautiful women, sometimes in two parts. Can split her own body in two sprouting wings, leaving her legs behind. When she is in two, pour salt and garlic to permanently destroy her.

Anyway, here are some people who are rumored to be vampires.
Vlad Tepes 002 by lorddurionVlad III Dracula: The big inspiration of Bram Stoker's novel, a bloodthirsty warlord and the cause of the death of over a hundred thousand. Whilst feasting in the midst of his forest of impaled victims, twenty thousand Turks. He took some bread, broke off a piece and dipped it into a goblet of blood and then slurped it.
Elizabeth Bathory Portrait by lorddurionElizabeth Bathory: A wicked Hungarian countess, murderess, killed hundreds of young girls, she believed bathing in the blood of virgin females would keep her young forever.
Grigori Rasputin 1916 by lorddurionGrigori Rasputin: A monk from Russia who believed had psychic healing powers, when prince Yusopov tried to kill him by poisoning him, shooting him and beating him to a pulp, they threw his body into the canal when a few days later frozen his arms up and fingers bent, as if he came back and tried to break out of the ice. A year later his body was dug up to be cremated, it was said that his body slowly sat up while on fire, as if he was still alive.
